- the Holiday Estate to Feel Good -

Pamina-Hof Leinsweiler

Welcome, dear guests of our homepage!

Our `Pamina-Hof´ is your destination for a carefree and unforgettable holiday. This idyllic holiday estate offers those seeking peace and quiet a place to relax amidst the magnificent nature of the beautiful Southern Palatinate. At the same time it is also an ideal location for active holiday-makers who want to explore the vast Palatinate Forest and the romantic Southern Wine Route.

Our rustic former winery, with its classic 3-sided construction, a typical example of local architecture, blends harmoniously into the picturesque village of Leinsweiler. Lovingly modernised and extended with two beautiful and comfortable holiday apartments, it represents a cosy home for us and our holiday guests. (Our `Winzerhäusel´ is currently permanently sublet and therefore not available!)

Pamina is on the one hand a character from Mozat´s opera `The Magig Flute´, namely the daughter of the Queen of the Night, and her name means `everlasting full moon night´. On the other hand, Pamina is an artificial word and contains as syllables the three regions that characterize our domestic landscape:

PA (Palatinat du Sud = Southern Palatinate)

MI (Middle Upper Rhine)

NA (North Alsace)

We too feel connected to this cross-border project and would like to bring people together and bring them closer to the nature and culture of this impressive region. Be enchanted by the beautiful Southern Palatinate and the entire Pamina region!

We look forward to getting to know each other soon

and be happy to see each other again

Holiday paradise Leinsweiler

The winegrower and holiday village Leinsweiler is one of the many beautiful pearls that line the romantic Southern Wine Route. The very mild climate with an above-average number of sunny days allows lemons, figs and almonds to flourish in the gardens and courtyards, giving this area its Mediterranean character.

The state-approved health resort with its historic town centre is characterized by pretty half-timbered houses and rustic winegrowing estates in romantic alleys. The late gothic village church from the 13th century is dedicated to Saint Martin. In front of the arcade-lined town hall from 1619 is the village fountain, which is over 400 years old and hewn from red sandstone.

Every year, the Brunnenfest attracts guests from near and far to enjoy the celebrations. During the Leinsweiler Summer in July the wineries open their doors and offer delicious samples of their own products.

An easy hiking trail leads along the Sonnenberg to the Slevogt-Hof; the building was the residence and studio of the painter Max Slevogt (1868-1932). Today the premises house a museum with the works by the famous artist. On the hilltop 500 metres above the Slevogt-Hof there are the ruinous remains of the former high castle Neukastel from the early 12th century. From a rocky plateau you have a breathtaking view over Leinsweiler, the neighbouring villages and the sea of vines far beyond Landau.

In addition, Leinsweiler offers restaurants, wine taverns and a patisserie, which is famous for its exquisite pralines, but which also carries bread and rolls in its assortment. Enjoy warm hospitality with good wine and Palatinate delicacies. Leinsweiler has good bus connections to Landau, the nearest larger town. There are numerous shops, museums, theatres, zoos and an adventure pool. Landau is also a stop for the Deutsche Bahn.

Excursion destinations in the surroundings

At the back of Leinsweiler to the west and north rises the mighty Palatinate Forest. Climbing bizarre rock formations, meeting shy wild animals, herb and mushroom walks or bird call excursions offer a special kind of nature experience at anytime of the year. An extensive well-marked network of hiking trails, such as the "Pfälzer Höhenweg", the "Pfälzer Waldpfad" and the "Pfälzer Weinsteig" as well as dozens of rustic huts invite you to get some exercise in the fresh air and enjoy hearty Palatinate food.

The Wasgau region around Leinsweiler is teeming with medieval castles and castle ruins. The most famous is probably the Reichsburg Trifels, which is enthroned on the Sonnenberg at an altitude of 494 metres and forms the Trifels ensemble together with its sister castles Anebos and Scharfenberg. The "Burgenweg" is recommended for hikers here. One of the largest and oldest castle complexes in the Palatinate is the ruins of Madenburg Castle, built in the early 11th century on a 458 metres high rock spur of the Rothenberg. All of them are shrouded in legend, bear witness to the footsteps of the notorious Barbarossa, for example, and present the adventurous holidaymaker with diverse treasures of living history.
